What are Motor Caddies?

For recreational golfers, there are several bag-toting options, and the differences are more than just cosmetic. Each offers a unique combination of physical activity, convenience, and cost.

Motor caddies are the least popular of these options, owing to the fact that they lack the convenience of pull carts and are significantly more expensive. Golfers who use motor caddies are those who want the exercise of walking 18 holes but are unable or unwilling to push or pull their golf bag in a traditional pull cart. Golfers can walk alongside their bags while using motor caddies, which are three-wheeled carts with motors. Some of the more expensive models even include remote controls.

While motor caddies are one of the more convenient options on the course, they can be inconvenient off it. Bulky motors are common in motor caddies, making it difficult for some people to get in and out of their trunks. And motor caddies are powered by a battery that must be charged on a regular basis. x000D_
Carrying your bag on a shoulder strap is clearly less expensive than using a motor caddy, and it also provides a lot more physical activity. Carrying a bag for 18 holes, on the other hand, is too physically demanding for many golfers.

The electric cart, a two-seat buggy that can be rented from the golf course for a single round, is the polar opposite. This is a popular option for “weekend” golfers who aren’t necessarily looking to get in some exercise and can afford the hefty rental fee. Apart from human caddies who carry your bag for you, electric carts are the only option that provides less exercise than motor caddies. Electric carts are also available, but this is not a practical option unless you live on or near a golf course.

For recreational golfers, the pull cart is one of the most popular options. Pull carts resemble motor caddies in appearance but lack the motor. They are typically lightweight and fold up to fit easily into the trunk of a car, making them a dirt-cheap alternative to renting electric carts or purchasing motor caddies. For golfers who want to get some exercise but can’t handle carrying a bag, the pull cart is a good option.
